Client:

Washington County School District

Description:

Alpha Engineering completed the design and construction management of the new Desert Hills High School located in St. George. This site is located on 39 acres adjacent to the Desert Hills Middle School and the Desert Hills subdivision in St. George. Design of this facility included assisting the Architect, Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects with layout and design of three main buildings, sports fields including football, baseball, softball, practice fields and a trail that is part of the City master planned trail system. This project was constructed on a difficult site with over 40 feet of elevation difference which required a unique approach to site grading and retaining wall design. The first phase of this project included preparation and bidding of a rough grading and drainage package that was bid and managed by our office which included over 420,000 c.y. of earthwork and the installation of over 1,600 lineal feet of 36”, 30” and 24” reinforced concrete storm drain pipe through the site. The second phase of this project included finishing the civil design plans including hydrology studies, finish grading, drainage and utility design. Alpha Engineering also assisted the Architect with bidding and construction management of the finished site.
